Kerala Style Fish Biryani

Kerala style Fish Biryani is prepared using King fish (Visvon in Konkani). Many dishes can be made out of King fish. This is one of the finest dishes I have come across. So try out this new recipe. I am sure you will love it.

Ingredients:

To Cook Rice

- 1 cup Rice
- 2 cups Water
- 2 Cloves
- 2 Cardamom
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- Piece of Cinnamon
- 1 Bay Leaf
- Salt as per taste

To Fry Fish

- 250 gms Fish boneless pieces
- 1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
- 2 tsp. Lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Oil as required

To make Biryani Masala

- 2 Chopped Onions
- 1 Chopped Tomato
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 2 Sliced Green Chilies
- 1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp.  Ginger Garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
- 1/2 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 1/2 cup Curd
- Bunch of chopped Coriander  Leaves
- Bunch of chopped Mint Leaves
- Salt as per taste

To prepare Saffron Milk

- Pinch of Saffron (Kesar)
- 1/8 cup Milk

Instructions:

To Cook Rice

Firstly soak the rice for about 30 Minutes. Boil water and add all the ingredients given above to cook rice. Now add soaked rice to the boiling water. Cook it nicely and drain the water.

Now prepare the Saffron milk by adding a pinch of saffron in milk. Mix the saffron milk in the rice and keep it aside. Keep some Saffron milk separately.

To Fry Fish

Firstly wash the King Mackerel and then marinate it. To marinate the King Mackerel apply red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, lemon juice, and Salt. Keep it to marinate for about 15-30 Minutes. Now heat the pan add oil and add the fish pieces. Fry it on both sides until it cooks perfectly.

To make Biryani Masala

Now heat the Non-Stick pot, add oil, add bay leaf and fry it for some time. Now add chopped onions and add sliced green chilies. Saute it for some time. Let onions cook. Now add ginger garlic paste and mix it. Now its time to add some spices. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix them for a minute. Add chopped tomato and a splash of water. Cook this till tomato is completely mashed. After this add curd, some mint leaves, some coriander leaves, and salt.


Biryani Masala

Mix all the ingredients. Cook the masala till it completely cooked. Now separate some Biryani masala to layer the cooked rice.

Finally, layer some cooked rice on top of biryani masala. Add chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves. Drizzle some saffron milk over it. Place some fried King Mackerel. Repeat this process. Layer the remaining cooked rice on top and again add chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves, place remaining fried King Mackerel and drizzle some saffron milk. Cover the lid.

Now heat the pan, and place the Biryani pot. Keep this whole thing on dum for 15 to 20 minutes. Open the lid and mix it.

Serve it hot by Indian Raita and enjoy the meal.
