Rava Sheera

Rava Sheera is an Indian traditional sweet dish prepared using Semolina, Ghee and Dry fruits. We Goans call this dish as "Ravyacho Sheero" but in North India it is called as "Suji ka Halwa". This dish is prepared as Naivedya or Prasad during festivals like Ganesh Chaturti, Laxmi Pooja, Saraswati Pooja etc. Most people prepare it as breakfast and as evening snacks. It is very easy and quick to prepare.

Ingredients:

- 2-3 tbsp. Ghee

- ½ Cup Rava (Semolina)

- ½ Cup Sugar

- 1½ Cup water

- 2-3 Cloves

- 1 tbsp. Raisin (Kismis)

- 5-6 Cashew nuts (make pieces)

- 5-6 Soaked Almonds (make pieces)

Instructions:

Heat kadai, add 1 tsp. ghee, add cashew nuts and raisin. Roast it. Remove it to a plate and keep it aside. Soak almonds for 5-6 hours. Remove the skin of almond and keep.

Now in the same kadai, add 2-3 tbsp. Ghee and add Rava (Semolina). Roast Rava nicely till it become golden brown. Now add the cloves, add roasted raisins (Kismis), roasted cashew nut pieces and soaked almond pieces. Mix it properly. 

Simultaneously boil 1½ cup water. Add this boiling water to the Rava mixture. Now add sugar to the mixture. Stir it until water is absorbed. The mixture will become thick. Add a little ghee on top of it. Mix it and turn off the flame. Rava Sheera is ready. Decorate it with more dry fruits.

Tip: You can also make Rava Sheera colorful by adding Orange or Yellow food color to the boiling water. You can also add Cardamom powder.
