Bhuna Chicken

Bhuna Chicken is a roasted semi-gravy Chicken. It is a combination of Onions, Tomato puree, Curd and some spices. Tomato puree, Chopped Onions and Curd make chicken semi-gravy saucy and more tasty. Very simple to prepare.

Ingredients:

To marinate Chicken

- 500 gms Chicken pieces

- 1 tsp. Salt

- 1/2 tsp. Turmeric powder


To make dry masala

- 3 tsp. Coriander Seeds

- 1/2 tsp. Fennel Seeds

- 1/2 tsp. Pepper Corns

- 3 Cloves

- 4 Cardamom


Other Ingredients:

- 2 tbsp. Butter

- 4 tbsp. Oil

- 1 tsp. Cumin Seeds

- 2 Red dry chili

- 3 Medium Chopped Onions

- 1/2 tsp. Salt

- 1 tbsp. Ginger Garlic paste

- 3 Medium Tomato puree

- 1 tsp. Red chili powder

- 3 tbsp. Beaten Curd

- Chopped coriander Leaves for garnishing

Instructions:

First step is to marinate the chicken. Wash the chicken pieces properly. Now add salt and turmeric to the chicken pieces. Mix and keep it to marinate for about one hour.

Now make tomato puree. Cut the three medium sized tomatoes into small pieces. Now add tomato pieces in the mixer jar and make tomato puree.

The next step is to prepare Dry Masala powder. Heat pan, add coriander seeds, fennel seeds, peppercorns, cloves and cardamom. Dry roast these ingredients properly on medium flame. Take out into a plate. Let it completely cool down. Now transfer these roasted spices in the mixer jar and grind it into thin powder.

Now it's time to fry chicken. Heat pan, add butter and place marinated pieces of chicken. Fry chicken pieces on medium flame. Fry for about 5-6 minutes. It will become little brown. Turn off the gas and remove it in a plate.

Now in the same pan, add oil, cumin seeds, saute it and add dry chili. Again saute it for a while, add chopped onions and salt. Mix ingredients properly. Fry onion till it become a little brownish. Now add ginger garlic paste. Fry it for 2-3 minutes and add tomato puree. Mix tomato puree nicely for some time till it releases oil. Add fried chicken pieces. Again mix this properly, add red chili powder and dry masala powder. 'Bhuno (Fry)' for 3-4 minutes on medium flame. Now add beaten curd and mix it well. Cover it and cook for 10 minutes. It will release some oil. Open the lid and garnish it with chopped coriander leaves. Enjoy Bhuna Chicken with sliced onion.

Tip: You can also use Ghee instead of Butter to fry Chicken pieces.
