Ladyfinger is known as "Bhindi" in Hindi and "Bhendo" in Konkani. This is a Goan style simple daily meal dish. Ladyfingers has health benefits. It is very nutritious. Ladyfingers boosts immunity and is very beneficial during pregnancy.
I learned this simple recipe from my mother. This recipe is made without onion, coconut and spices. You can also say Bhendyache (Ladyfinger) Talasan to this recipe. Try out this healthy recipe.
Ingredients:
- 10-12 Ladyfingers
- 2 tbsp. oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 small pieces of Tamarind or dried Vatamba sola

Instructions:
In a small bowl, add 1 tbsp. water and add pieces of tamarind or dried vatamba sola. Soak it for some time.
Now wash the ladyfingers and cut it into small pieces. Heat kadai (pot), add oil and mustard seeds. Let mustard seeds crackle a bit. Now add red chili powder and turmeric powder. Mix it.
After this add a piece of ladyfingers. Mix it and fry it in oil.

Cover and cook it on low gas flame. Add little water on the covered lid. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Now add salt and soaked tamarind or dried vatamba sola with water. Mix it properly. Again cover it and cook for one more minute. When you see it has cooked perfectly, turn off the gas flame.
Bhendyachi (Ladyfinger) Bhaji is ready.
Tip: If you want coconut you can also add grated coconut.
