Poha Recipe | Easy Poha Recipe for Breakfast | Goan Phov for Breakast

Kanda Poha is called as " Kandhyache Phov" in Goan local language Konkani. Poha is called as Flattened rice in English. Kanda Poha is a combination of thick flattened rice, Onion, Jaggery and some more basic ingredients.

Kanda poha is a quick and super easy recipe which can be prepared within 15 - 20 minutes for breakfast. This can be prepared as evening snacks too.


Ingredients required to make Kanda Poha

- 4 small cups flattened rice

- 2 medium sliced onion

- 1 potato chopped square pieces (Pieces size 1 inch)

- 1 sliced green chili

- 1 tbsp. cumin seeds

- 1 tsp. turmeric powder

- 1 tbsp. scrapped jaggery

- Some chopped coriander leaves

- Some scrapped coconut

- Salt as per required

- Oil as per required

Instructions to make Kanda Poha

Firstly, wash flattened rice in a container and strain out all water. It will become soft. Add some salt to the flattened rice and keep it aside.

Now add some salt to the chopped potatoes. Now heat Kadai, add some oil and deep fry chopped potatoes. When potatoes are fried keep it aside.

Now in the same kadai (remove some oil if required), add cumin seeds and sliced green chili. Saute it for some time and add sliced onions. Add a pinch of salt to the onion. Onions will become soft faster. Fry onions till it becomes soft. Now add jaggery. Mix it nicely till jaggery melt completely Now add turmeric powder and fried potatoes. Saute it and add washed flattened rice. Mix it perfectly and salt as per taste.

And now finally add scraped coconut and add chopped coriander leaves. Cover it and cook it for a minute. Kanda Poha is ready to serve hot. Serve hot with Sev or Chivda.


Tip :- You can also add green peas instead of fried potato.
