Junka (Goan Style)

Junka is a dish prepared using Gram Flour, Coconut, some Spices, and onion. It is a spicy dish mostly prepared in Goa and Maharashtra. It is mostly served with "Bhakri" or "Roti." Try out this recipe. It is very easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

- 1 cup Gram Flour (Besan)

- 1 Small chopped Onion

- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds

- 6 Cloves

- 1 inch Cinnamon

- 6 Red Chilies

- 8 Garlic Cloves 

- Small Tamarind ball

- 1/2 cup chopped Coriander Leaves

- 2 Medium sliced Onion

- 2 Sliced Green chilies

- Oil as required

- Salt as per taste

Instructions:

Heat pan, add oil, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, and red chilies. Saute these spices for some time. Add garlic cloves and 1 chopped onion. Saute it for some time. Now add grated coconut. Mix all the ingredients. Put the gas flame off after 2-3 minutes.

Now add this mixture in the grinder by adding 1 tsp. Salt (or as required) and a small tamarind ball. Grind mixture by adding little water. Make ground mixture. 

Now in a bowl add ground mixture and add gram flour. Add coriander leaves in the mixture. Make batter of it by adding more water if required. Keep the mixture aside.

Again heat pan, add 2 medium size sliced onion and sliced green chilies. Saute it till onions become soft and fry perfectly. Now add batter and mix it nicely. Stir it properly for some time. Cover it and cook for 5 minutes on low flame. Cook until it becomes thick. Serve it hot.

Tip: You can also add veggies if you like.
