Momo is a South Indian dumpling which is famous in Nepal, Sikkim and
Bhutan. Momos is very popular street food in India served with Momos Chutney.
Momos are usually prepared with all purpose flour (Maida). The outer cover is
prepared using all purpose flour, but this recipe is made using wheat. The
outer cover is made with wheat and stuffed with some fried veggies and
shredded chicken.
Wheat momos are very healthy dish, you can easily prepare this during evening
time.
How to make Wheat Chicken Momos
Ingredients required to make Wheat Chicken Momos:
To make Wheat outer cover
- 200 gms Wheat Flour
- Salt
- 1 tbsp Oil
- Water as required
For Chicken Momos Filling
- Shredded pieces of Chicken
- Salt
- Turmeric powder
- Chopped Garlic
- Chopped Ginger
- 2 Chopped Green Chillies
- 1 bowl grated Carrot
- 1 bowl chopped Cabbage
- 1 bowl chopped Spring Onion
- 1 tsp. Black Pepper powder
- 3/4 tsp. Red Chili Sauce

Instructions to make Wheat Chicken Momos:
Firstly wash chicken, apply salt and turmeric powder and boil chicken. Make
shredded pieces of chicken. Keep it aside.
Now lets make wheat dough. In a bowl add wheat flour, add salt and oil. Mix it
and make a dough by adding water as required. Knead dough nicely apply some
oil. Cover it with wet cloth and keep it aside for 1 hour.
After this make momos stuffing, Heat pan, add oil, add chopped pieces of
ginger and garlic. Fry it nicely and add chopped green chilies. Now add grated
carrot and chopped cabbage. Mix all the ingredients well. When you see the
veggies, fried perfectly, add chopped spring onion, add shredded pieces of
chicken and again mix. Lastly add black pepper powder and red chili sauce.
Combine all the ingredients very well and turn off the gas flame.
Now make small balls of wheat dough. Flatten the small balls and add 1 tbsp.
momos stuffing. Cover it by applying water to the edges. You can make any
shape of momos. Now steam it for 15-20 minutes in a steamer. If you do not
have a steamer, steam it in a pot. Serve momos with
Momos Chutney.
Tip: You can also make Veg momos without chicken from this
recipe.
