Goan Buttermilk Curry Recipe
Buttermilk curry is a South Indian curry prepared using buttermilk. Buttermilk
is mixed with Cumin seeds, Mustard seeds, Curry Leaves, Green chili, Turmeric
powder and Salt. It is a little sour in taste. It tastes similar to
Taak Matta. This curry can be served with rice. Buttermilk curry is
called as "Takachi Kadi" in Goan local language.
Buttermilk curry is very easy to prepare. You just require buttermilk and some
basic ingredients. This curry tastes similar to Masala taak and Taak
matta. All ingredients are very essential to this recipe. Cumin seeds and
curry leaves give its own aroma to the curry. Try out this simple
recipe.
Ingredients required to make Buttermilk Curry:
- 1 Bowl Buttermilk
- 2 tsp. Ghee
- 1 tsp. Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp. Mustard Seeds
- Half chopped Green Chili
- 1 tsp. Turmeric powder
- 8-10 Curry leaves
- Salt as per taste

Heat kadai, add ghee, cumin seeds and chopped green chili. Saute it and add
curry leaves. Then add mustard seeds and turmeric powder.
When mustard seeds start to crackle, add buttermilk. Mix it nicely and add
salt.
When it starts to boil, turn off the gas flame. Buttermilk curry is ready. Add
coriander leaves if you like.
Tip: You can also add Asafoetida to the recipe.
