Sabudana Khichadi

Sabudana Khichadi is mostly prepared during fasting like Navratri, Ekadashi, Amavasya etc. It is one of the fasting dish from Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Sabudana Khichadi is prepared using Sabudana, Peanuts, Potato, Coriander, Green Chili and herbs. You can easily prepare this within 15- 20 minutes. It is very delicious and simple dish.

Ingredients:

- 1 Cup Sabudana

- 1/4 cup Peanut

- 1 Boiled Potato

- 1 Chopped Green Chili

- Chopped Coriander Leaves

- 1/2 tsp. Cumin seeds

- 1/2 tsp. Black Pepper

- 1/4 tsp. Turmeric Powder

- 1 tsp. Lemon juice

- Salt as per taste

- Oil as required

Instructions:

Firstly wash Sabudana and soak in water for about 8 hours. Soaking is very important, otherwise khichadi will become sticky. 

Dry roast peanuts and remove the brown skin of peanuts. Grind roasted peanuts in a mixer and make powder. Peel the skin of boiled potato and cut it into square pieces. 

Now heat pan, add oil and add cumin seeds. Saute it and add green chili. Mix it and add pieces of boiled potato. Add a pinch of salt and add turmeric powder. Again mix it, now add soaked Sabudana. Mix all the ingredients nicely. Add black pepper powder, some salt, lemon juice and dry roast peanut powder. Mix it. Cook this on medium flame. Garnish it with coriander leaves. Cover it with lid and cook for about 3-4 minutes. Remove the lid, mix and turn off the flame. Sabudana Khichadi is ready to serve.

Tip: You can also add roasted peanuts without making powder.
